Branding is important for any band or artist wanting to become famous. If you think about it, most famous people have a brand. Take Taylor Swift for example, she went from love songs to revenge and what ever she did, she branded herself. It is much better to brand yourself than to let others brand you, that way you are in control of what you’re known for. here is a link that could help you with branding yourself:

This was so true in calling branding a “handshake.” Things such as graphics, covers and posts are your audiences first impression to what you are about. Much like the first seconds of any given song, it has to hook you in. Clever or bold album covers such as the Life of Pablo or a close up of Adele’s face are more memorable and stand out to you when you pass them in the store (physical or digital). http://emptyeasel.com/2009/03/02/branding-101-for-artists-how-to-create-a-strong-brand-for-yourself-and-your-art/
This article shows you how to brand your music to the market. It shows you what visuals to use for your brand and how to use it effectively. It can help people out when it comes to finding their image for their audience.
I really like this article. Throughout reading, I found myself thinking about how much I like audiovisual albums like Beyonce’s Lemonade or lesser-known Iamamiwhoami’s Blue. The visuals accompanying music alter the way I think about the artist and their works themselves. In my opinion, I could like a song, but will end up loving it if the music video is great. It’s kind of like film too, but vice-versa. Some movies are just carried by their scores and soundtracks, and other great films are brought to a new level with the right sound.

This whole article mentioned things I have literally been talking about every day in my day to day life. I was just showing my boyfriend the other night how tweets are no longer even words it’s just funny videos or memes every other tweet or every tweet. So there is no doubt that visual aids is truly king now especially when it comes to media. I also believe that visual content just gets the fans going. How it was talking about album artwork before the music is even released is truly becoming a big thing now. Look at Taylor Swift she disappeared for like a year and deleted every single picture from her Instagram, while also unfollowing everybody and then came back with teaser videos of snakes, and what Reputation would look like, her short wavy hair with wavy bangs, her black and white artwork making a bold statement. It’s just how things are coming together now and days but it’s working and I think that’s all that matters. This link will include 5 ways you can use visual content to promote your music.

Branding is a crucial part for any artist to succeed. An artist brand is their identity, who they are and what their music represents. Therefore in order to garner the right demographic, everything from album covers to music videos, to the music itself should reflect who the artist wishes to relflect.

I really like this article because it hits the nail on the head with the importance of the album work. I know personally when I’m looking in the music section at a store and I know I want something that’s mellow or kind of like coffee shop, the I’m going to look for an album cover that’s very calming and simple because why would soft music be paired with an extremely busy and out there album cover? a pictures worth a thousand words and the album cover can either make or break you because people these days don’t always want to spend the time to do the research and get to know your music so they just go off of the album cover.

Branding in a sense is so important when it comes to an artist or a group. Knowing what they are like personality, type of music, how you can relate is just key. The more you make yourself a voice rather than just another artist as so many are doing today it puts the artist out there. A lot of artist are being heard and because they are in the spotlight have gotten involved in society, politics, etc in order to give those who don’t have a voice, a voice through them. When they do this the people pay attention to it and are able to find common ground and just want to get to know the artist better and figure out what the artist is about. The more that these artist put themselves out there whether in a social way, political, or sometimes even really outspoken way it usually can be good to them. However, there are times when it can go south and being to involved can cause your branding to look bad with too much negativity.
Branding is a piece of whatever you are . While an artist or group may not live forever a brand can . Branding can be the difference between the relevance and irrelevance of an artist.
